Volunteer Engagement VISTA
Tamela was born in Detroit, Michigan, but called Mississippi home. During her youth, she experienced bouts of poverty and spent some time as a guest with Family Promise. Since then, she has been a champion for community and an advocate for those experiencing homelessness. She left her role as Director of Kathryn's House, a shelter for women and children, when the shelter unfortunately closed to the public.
Tamela hopes to one day have her own "house of opportunity," for those in need of essential services and assistance.
